Town of Silver City Water Meter Retrofit & Leak Detection Silver City, New Mexico
In August, 2013, the Town of Silver City established a Water Conservation Plan in order to evaluate and develop methods the Town could implement in order to sustain and conserve its municipal groundwater supply. This included a top down analysis of the water system and audit according to AWWA best practices and recommendations. Upon completion of the evaluation, results suggested that testing meter accuracy and conducting leak detection would be the first steps needed to be taken. Yearout Energy Services further investigated and developed a project that would provide the Town with new meters and implement a leak detection program that would payback in 14.1 years. Yearout Energy Services removed 6,500 existing meters and installed equivalent meter sizes. New rubber meter gaskets and new bolts were also installed where deemed necessary. All job-related debris removal including old meters was also completed.

Roswell Water Meter Upgrade
With an aging water meter inventory, the City of Roswell turned to Yearout Energy Services to aid in finding a sustainable solution. Yearout Energy Services performed an in-depth audit of the existing water meter system to determine inaccuracy and non-revenue water loss from the aging meters. A customized retrofit program was created based off of the audit to upgrade over 19,000 meters to a solid state, AMI metering system. The recovered revenue resulting from the high accuracy of the new meters will be used finance the project. On top of the project paying for itself, the City can significantly reduce operations and maintenance costs, and view system operations in real-time through a new meter data management program.
